It Started With a Kid and a Lawnmower
How It Started
Some businesses start with a business plan. Partridge Landscaping started in 2001 with an 11-year-old, a push mower and a snow shovel, working his way down the street in Komoka.
That kid was Brian Partridge. His very first customer is still a customer, twenty-five years later.

From yard work to a real business
By 2007, Brian was 17 and had fifteen regular clients, a truck and a licence. That year, with help from the Small Business Centre, he registered Partridge Yard Maintenance and started taking on work across London and the surrounding area.
The first clients under the new licence were a couple on Komoka Road who owned several rental properties. For a 17-year-old with no crew, that was the biggest account on the books.
“They trusted me before I had a crew, or even a logo. They were my biggest client at the time, and to this day, we still proudly service their properties.”
Having a green thumb is good, but not enough
In 2008, Brian enrolled in Fanshawe College’s Horticulture Technician program. What he learned there turned a maintenance company into a design-and-build company. Partridge Yard Maintenance became Partridge Landscaping, and started taking on patios, retaining walls, gardens and full landscape builds, without dropping the year-round maintenance and snow clearing its clients relied on.
The growth since then has been steady rather than fast, and that’s on purpose. Partridge has never chased volume. The focus has always been long-term clients, skilled people who stick around, and honest work done properly.
Still on the same streets
Partridge is heading into its twenty-sixth winter. The business has grown alongside Komoka and Kilworth, and it still works the streets it started on, just with better equipment. From early-morning plowing to custom patios, the approach hasn’t changed since the push-mower days: show up, do the job properly, and treat every property like it matters.
